Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I have been a mediator since 1992, first part-time then full-time since 1999. I have been a practicing facilitator since 1994.
What is your primary product or service?
Helping people in pairs or groups engage in productive conversation--saying what they need to say in ways that the others can hear and respond. I do this by providing a safe and confidential setting.
My commitment:
• To move people confronting a difficult situation along a common path toward mutual, lasting resolution of issues
• So that they experience relief, renewed personal strength, and increased capacity to work together comfortably
• Thereby best serving themselves and those they influence.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My background is varied--teaching, Peace Corps, construction. A friend suggested I might be interested in mediation and, after the first training, it seemed a natural fit, due to my calm demeanor and ability to empathize with people from all walks of life.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
With over 300 hours of professional training in a variety of subject areas, and with a focus on face-to-face mediation, I can provide a higher level of professional service than those who might have taken a smattering of training and call themselves mediators.
I have worked full-time as a Family Court Mediator in the Albuquerque District Court and continue to contract with the Court in Sandoval County. My past or present contracts include work for the US Postal Service, NM Special Education Bureau, US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and many State agencies.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One office on Luisa Street in Santa Fe serves me well. With a valid Drivers License and a functioning vehicle, I continue to travel our beautiful state to serve clients wherever I am needed.
Provide detailed directions to your location
1301 Luisa is south of Cordova Road, just east of Santa Fe Baking Company and Trader Joe's.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash, check and credit card are all accepted.
Which areas do you service?
Service areas include divorce, custody and child support, business, contracts and partnerships, familial matters, land use, employment, disability and others.
Geographically, I work all over New Mexico.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I am the sole owner and worker bee.
What are your hours of operation?
Typically, normal business hours during the week, though I am available when my clients need--nights and weekends.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
"Thak you for helping us make our own best decisions."
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
When I walked out of the gate, I knew that if I continued
to hate these people, I would still be in prison. --Nelson Mandela
